In the summer of 2015, I was struck with that common ailment of the undeground music scene - total confidence collapse: "is there any point to releasing this stuff?", "is anybody even listening?". Drastic action was need. Near complete tracks and salvageable ideas were pulled together into the "Hidden Workings" album (concretefield.bandcamp.com/album/hidden-workings).
The rest (unused improvised recordings, fragmentary ideas, stray noises) were bundled up into a 300MB Zip file and released into the wild for anyone who saw the link on social media to do with as they fancied. Long-time friend and collaborator Luke Lund fired back an album on his label Terranean almost immediately (the excellent "Induktio" terraneanrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/induktio-induction) and over a period of two years many friends, collaborators and people I know off Twitter sent me things they had created with my orphaned sounds. Most of these have been collected as "Under The Concrete, The Field" - you could call it a remix album, but it's more of a distributed collaboration.
The sounds are still out there for anyone who wants to use them.

Concrete/Field is a one man band who has been releasing sonic detritus into the void since 2008. Concrete/Field deals in improvised synthesis, deep tweaking of sound sources, lo-fi field recordings and unnecessary conceptual nonsense about power stations and wiring. Infrastructure as muse.
